The King of the North and the King of the South

”And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.” (Daniel 11:40)

Then comes the question; Who is the king of the North and who is the king of the South?

First we will examine who is the king of the North:

”Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; but the LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the North, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.” (Jeremiah 16:14-15).

”And the king (of the North) shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.” (Daniel 11:36).

Israel had been taken captive, and they had been taken as prisoners to the land of Babylon. There they had been for 70 years, and now the king of Babylon said that they could og back to their country. The Bible is clearly saying that the poeple of Israel were brought up from the land of the North. Babylon, in that time, is the litteral Babylon. But as we already have read, it is in the endtime that the king of the south shall push at the king of the North.
We know that Babylon does not exist any more. Who then is Babylon in the endtime? In the last book of the Bible, Revelation, chapter 17, we find the spiritual Babylon, or the endtime Babylon. We read:

”And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHERS OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” (Rev. 17:5).

Here we have the spiritual endtime Babylon. All the signs of this woman points to the Catholic Church. They also say that they are the mother of all the churches. The Bible reveal that this church are the mother of harlots and abominations of the earth. The papacy also exalt himself , and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against God of gods. Let us take some few axamples:

”To believe that our Lord God the Pope has not the power to decree as he is decreed, is to be deemed heretical.” (The Glos Extravagantes of Pope John XXII, Cum inter. Tit XIV, cap. IV. Ad Callem Sexti Decretalium, Paris, 1685).

”The pope and God are the same, so he has all power in heaven and earth.” (Barcley, cap XXVVII,page 218, Cities Petrus Bertrandus, Pius V. – Cardinal Cusa support his statement).

”The pope is of so great dignity and so exalted that he is not mer man…he is as it were God on earth, sole sovereign of the faithful of Christ, chief of kings, having plentitude of power.” (Ferrari’s Ecclesiastical Dictionary, articles on the Pope. Lucius Ferraries, ”Promtha Bibliotheca”, 1763, Volume VI, ’Papa II’, p. 25-29).

Compare these statements with Isaiah 42:8; ”I am the LORD: that is My name: and My glory I will not give to another, neither My praise to graven images.” This makes it plain that the Papal claim is false.

Then, who is the king of the South?

We read:
”And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him” (the king of the North).

Who pushed at the the papacy in the endtime? It was Napoleon and his soldiers. ”In 1798 he (Berthier)…made his entrance into Rome, ABOLISHED THE PAPAL GOVERNMENT and established a secular one.” (The Encyclopedia Americana, 1941 edition).

It was the general Haller who arrested Pius VI on February, 1798. They also wrote about this in the Itallian newspaper, Liberté, Rome, February 15, 1798. The pope was taken to France where he died. The papacy then got a deadly wound, just as the Bible had foretold. (Rev. 13:3).

Just before this happening we can read the history about the French revolution., from 1789-93). It was ateism in France, with Robertspierre and his Jacobiner club that stood behind the French revolution.

1. They abolished the government voted by the people.
2. Robertspierre (the leader of the Jacobins) and his people established his own unlegal government.
3. They burned the Bibles on the streets.
4. The week should consist of ten days.
5. They killed the people that worshiped God.
6. They did not respect or believe in God. They turned away from God.

We find the same attitude in Egypt in the Old Testament. We read:

”Afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, let my people og, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness. And Pharaoh said, who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.”(Ex. 5:1-2).

This is ateism, as it existed in Egypt.

We also find this this Bibletext about Egypt:

”And their dead bodies shall lie in the streets of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.” (Rev. 11:8)

So every country that have ateism as their ”religion” is a part of the spiritual Egypt. It was this religion that existed in the French revolution. Then we know by history that the ateism was spread to Soviet Russia (USSR) in about 1917. Surely, when the Soviet Union established herself as an atheistic world power, she very clearly qualified herself to be a successor to atheistic Egypt and atheistic France. She grew into a atheistic super-power.

The pararells between the French and Russian Revolution are striking:

1. Both revolutions were based on communist writings of Voltaire and Marx.
2. Both revolutions persecuted Bible believing christians.
3. Both revolutions ended the monarchies.
4. Both revolutions declared atheism as the religion of the state.
5. Both revolutions carried out a reign of terror by an inquisitional secret police.
6. Both revolutions resulted in military dictators who punished their enemies.

What happened then with the ateism in Soviet-Russia? The president of the USA, Ronald Reagen and the pope John Paul II together made a plan to brake down the wall between East- and West Germany and end communism in Soviet-Russia. Then the leader of Russia, Gorbachev, resigned December 31, 1990.

The point here is that the king of the North, the papacy, wared against the king of the South, ateism in Russia. We read this text: ..”and the king of the north shall come against him (the king of the South) like a whirlwind.”

With a speed of a ”whirlwind” atheistic Russia and her satellites were broken. That very word ”whirlwind” was used over and over by various news reporters as they related the swiftness of the demise of communism in eastern Europe. When we see pictures of the faces of the people in Soviet-Russia when they took away the monuments of Stalin and the communist leaders, we can see how astonished and glad they were. This was a surprising change in Soviet-Russia, but it was a fulfillment of the Bible prophecy.

Then, just afterwards, in February 1991, the USA took over the leading role in the world when they started the war in Kuwait and Irak.
